Hop aboard the Chi Cheemaun and cruise up Lake Huron to Manitoulin Island where we spend the first night in view of the Little Current Swing Bridge.  Following the shoreline to the SOO, we’ll even venture along the coast of Lake Superior to stunning overlooks. Cross into Michigan and hug the coast of Lake Superior as we make our way to a Shipwreck Museum, where the story of the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald lives on. We’ll make our way to Marquette and stay at a hotel along a retired iron ore shipping pier. Soon we find ourselves in Wisconsin – and whether you are a football fan or not – a tour of everything PACKERS is pretty cool. We’ll spend 3 nights in Door County, Wisconsin- said to be the Cape Cod of the Mid-West, with it’s tiny fishing villages and nautical feel, you’re gonna love the cozy lakeside accommodations and the tranquil scenery of Lake Michigan. We’ll continue south to Chicago with one more night to tie it all up.

  

DAY 1 We’ll begin our lakeside adventure aboard the iconic Chi-Cheemaun Ferry and make our way to Manitoulin Island. We’re welcomed to Spirit Island with a meeting with renowned artist, James Mishibinijima. Following free time in Little Current for dinner, we’ll make our way to the hotel. DAY 2 Following breakfast, we’ll embark on the iconic Lake Superior Scenic Drive with stops for photos and our included box lunch. This evening we’re up in the clouds as we take in a guided tour and private dinner at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. Sleep Inn, Sault Ste Marie ON (B, L, D)

 

DAY 3 Crossing into Michigan’s UP (Upper Peninsula) our first stop is at the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, where the legend of the Edmund Fitzgerald “lives on from the Chippewa on down.” With a stop for lunch in the picturesque Tahquamenon Falls State Park, the fall solours should be out in full force! We’ll make our way to Marquette, a city located on the shores of Lake Superior that’s known for its iron ore. Hampton Inn, Marquette MI (B)

 

DAY 4 Continuing with the history of the UP, we’ll take in a visit to the Michigan Iron Industry Museum. Amid the forested ravines of the Marquette Iron Range, the museum overlooks the Carp River and the site of the first iron forge in the Lake Superior region. As we make our way into America’s Dairyland, nothing screams “Cheesehead” louder then a Stadium Tour of Lambeau Field, home to the Green Bay Packers. We may not be Football fans, but oh what a unique experience to be a part of. Following dinner we’ll make our way to Door County, the “Cape Cod of the Mid-West” and check into our beachside spot for the next 3 nights. Beach Harbor Resort, Sturgeon Bay WI (B,D)

 

DAY 5 Located along Wisconsin’s busy working waterfront, the Door County Maritime Museum showcases the area’s rich maritime roots with interactive exhibits and a tour through the Maritime Lighthouse Tower. This afternoon it’s time to unpack your swimsuit as we have a leisurely afternoon to enjoy everything the Beach Harbor Resort has to offer! Stick your toes in the sand while sipping their famous Cherry Mojito, take advantage of their free kayak rentals, cast a fishing line from the shoreline, or simply sit back and enjoy the breeze! This evening, we’ll partake in a traditional Door County Fish Boil. A One-of-a-Kind Epicurean event that has been part of the area’s culture for more than 70 years.  (B,D)

 

DAY 6 Door County is especially beautiful when seeing if from the water. This morning we take a cruise along Peninsula State Park’s 7 mile shoreline where we’ll view the historic Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. Upon our return to land, we’ll start our scenic drive with a different point of view through the same state park. Following time for lunch and some shopping, we’ll head along Wisconsin’s Curvy Road for some fun photo opportunities. With a wine tasting to round out our day, we’ll make a stop for dinner before returning to our hotel. (B)

 

DAY 7 We begin our journey south with a stop in the Windy City for an architecture cruise and an up close view of the stunning skyline of Chicago. We’ll end our day by checking into our hotel. Designed as a beautiful contemporary barn, the Fair Oaks Farm hotel is filled with art and design accents that celebrate the American Countryside.  Fairfield, Fair Oaks, IN (B)

 

DAY 8 We will have “sow” much fun this morning! With a visit to the Fair Oaks farm, we’ll take in a fun experience that showcases the modern farming practices of a working farm. You’ll be squealing with excitement before we head home.  (B)
