A desire to DO MORE GOOD has led to Fields Trips being awarded Gold from North America's largest certification program for the tourism and hospitality industry, GreenStep Sustainable Tourism.
Becoming the FIRST Ontario Tour Operator to become Sustainable Tourism Certified, Fields Trips has signed the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge, making the commitment to be more sustainable – and using motor coaches (one of the best modes of transportation) is certainly a step in the right direction.
To receive a Gold certification, Fields Trips had to meet specific standards after a one-on-one assessment was completed by a GreenStep Assessor. The process compared Fields Trips practices against a set of criteria in 16 different categories that are Global Sustainable Tourism Council -Recognized and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Fields Trips measures the carbon emissions associated with each of our land tours in North America and responsibly offsets these emissions by purchasing carbon offsets to fund the Niagara Escarpment Forest Carbon Project (NEFCP). The NEFPC is a project of the Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy (EBC), which is Ontario's largest and Canada's second-largest land conservation agency, dedicated to preserving natural systems and whose mission is to maintain, enhance or restore areas of native species or natural habitat, and to encourage and support scientific research and educational services. Being sustainable sets the path for generations to come.
In order to uphold the integrity and credibility of the GreenStep Sustainable Tourism program, businesses are required to undergo a re-assessment every two years. Fields Trips will need to demonstrate continual improvement in our sustainability performance to maintain and improve our grading.

About Fields Trips: FIELDS TRIPS was launched in 2014 by Kelly Fields, located in Southwestern Ontario. We express a connectedness to Waterloo Region and acknowledge six miles on either side of the Grand River as treaty territory belonging to Six Nations of the Grand River.
